Customer Review: Makes toast!

I purchased this item for $25, and I'm very happy with it. If I paid $80 or more, I'd expect it to butter the bread for me. The settings provide a realistic range of browning, and it works well on everything I've tried: bread, bagels, frozen naan, frozen pastries, and pop-tarts. The "defrost" feature is nice, but not really necessary. The flip-up warming supports are a cute idea, but it doesn't work any better or worse than you'd expect. As for toasting!! If you set it for 1, you get warmed white "toast", 2 gives you light brown toast, 3 is medium brown, 4 is dark brown, 5 is for bagels, frozen pastries, or pop tarts (or use a lower setting and press the "defrost" button). The toasting is VERY uniform without burning edges or corners. That said, it isn't perfectly and absolutely uniform. For example, you can see normal variations in the "pores" of the bread. The rim of the pores is darker than the interior. That's the physics of radiant heat, and you're getting deep into crazy-person territory if you need your toast more uniform than this delivers. I'm serious, you should talk to someone if this toast isn't "even" enough for you. What else can I say? Been using it fairly heavily for about a month. No signs of problems.
