I used to sometimes forget my coffee and left it in the french press for 6-8 minutes and ruined the taste. This is a great product so you don't overbrew your coffee. It stores nicely on the plunger rod, but you may need to remove it to press down completely if you're making a small quantity.

Coffee aficionados know that 4-minutes is the perfect time for brewing coffee in a French press. The problem is that in our busy daily lifestyle it is easy to forget exactly how long your coffee has been brewing. Bodum has invented the perfect solution - our 4-minute clip timer. The timer is preset for 4-minutes. Just clip the timer right on to the plunger rod below the knob and hit start as you set the plunger/lid unit of your press into place. After 4 minutes the timer will beep letting you know that it is time to plunge and enjoy your cup of coffee. Once the timer stops it automatically resets itself back to 4-minutes so that you are ready to brew your next pot. Battery included. Note: this timer is preset to 4-minutes and cannot be used for any other time setting.Four minutes after hot water is poured over the grounds in a Bodum coffee press and stirred, the coffee is ready to be plunged and served. Keeping track of that four minutes is now a snap, thanks to Bodum's own four-minute timer. This battery-powered (battery is included), easy-read LED timer clips right onto the stainless-steel plunger shaft so it's right where you need it. Simply push one toggle button to start the timer, and you'll hear a beep four minutes later. You can push reset anytime, but the timer resets automatically as well, always to four minutes.
