Customer Review: Great cordless kettle

In 1998 when my husband and I returned from living in Scotland we had become addicted to having a cordless kettle. After shopping around the limited choices at the time, I bought the Bodum Ibis large cordless kettle in white. It was lovely and did exactly what I expected it to do: boiled water and then shut off. I never had any trouble lifting the lid to fill the kettle with water or with pouring out. Making sure the kettle is firmly on the base is a habit of mind, like making sure your timer has actually started.
While it may have had a plastic smell in the beginning, I really don't recall. Over 13 years of use the kettle was our go-to for making tea or heating up tea pots or thermos containers. It became sadly discolored after ten years and I kept meaning to replace it and last week it finally went *pop*, breaking the circuit that tells it when to turn off. (It still heats water, it just won't turn off.)
I have no hesitation replacing my Bodum kettle with another Bodum product.

The new IBIS features a stainless steel heating element which is integrated within the body of the kettle to avoid any contact and interference with the water during the boiling process. This cordless yet compact kettle sits on an electric base and boils up to 1.7 l, 57 oz. of water for coffee, tea, instant soups and more in just four minutes. Additionally, a see-through, easy-to-read water level indicator shows the user how much water remains in the IBIS. The IBIS will automatically cut off power once the water is boiled or if the pot is empty.
