Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Ettore Large Electric Water Kettle, OrangeCustomer Review: Ettore - Not sure this is a real Bodum! Summary: 3 Stars
Dearest Bodum/Amazon,
When i received the product in the mail, there were a few 'odd' things about it.
Here are my findings. (Since industrial design is my profession, I always investigate products I purchase for quality and curiosity of manufacturing process.)
Packaging:
#1: The packaging has a typo. On the side panel is says "Servew." (I assume it was suppose to say "Serve.")
#2. On that same side panel, I am confused as to why you used a black water kettle for the image - eventhough the background color of the package is always black! I could hardly see the kettle images. Why not use orange or green kettle image? It will be much easier to see.
Product:
#3. The plastic on the water kettle itself is a different orange shade in the main body vs. on the top piece. Why are these so different?
#4. The water kettle body is shiny - it is suppose to be a shiny plastic? Much of the time your products are a matte plastic finish, so I just wanted to check-
#5. The water kettle body uses semi-translucent plastic, but the images online made the plastic look very opaque.
#6. There are rust marks on the metal bottom of the kettle already - and I have not used it yet. This is very disappointing quality for a bodum!!
Any thoughts on the above design oddities?
I can't imagine your company putting out products that weren't designed with all of the above items in mind.
If these issues are not included on your designs, I would like to get a real Ettore Kettle!!

Description of Bodum Ettore Large Electric Water Kettle, OrangeHere's a novelty, if we can call it that: the electric water kettle designed by Ettore Sottsass for Bodum in 1988. Shame on us for never releasing this sooner. It's just that sometimes good things take time-and even after all these years, the kettle still honors Mr. Sottsass, the Memphis design group and their vision. Electric water kettles are the most energy efficient way to boil water as long as there isn't more water boiled than needed. The Ettore Water Kettle is made from plastic, stainless steel and silicone. Available in black, orange, red, green, and white in a 1.7 l, 57-ounce capacity.
