Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Logo Travel PressCustomer Review: The evolution of a coffee lover Summary: 5 Stars
For years, my husband drank cheap espresso brewed in a drip coffee pot and swore he was happy with it. Nothing I did could convince him to switch from that swill. He said that it tasted fine and it was economical. On a whim, I purchased the Bodum Logo Travel Press a couple weeks ago and a bag of dark roast Costa Rica coffee beans. Here is what happened... I, being a tea drinker, can put a pot of water on the boil without rousing suspicion. So I did. My husband asked me to put on a pot of his putrid (my characterization) coffee while he was in the shower. With my handy dandy bean grinder (long relegated to grinding herbs...) I coarse ground a couple tablespoons worth of beans. That took me all of 6 seconds. I covered up the noise with a great deal of pan banging and coughing. I measured the recommended 2 tablespoons of coffee-very economical, I might add- into the bottom of the press cup and poured the now boiling water first into my tea pot and then into the Bodum Travel Press. Next step? I changed a diaper for one child and whipped up a bowl of cereal for another hungry child (this is not a necessary part of making French press coffee...) Four minutes elapsed, I walked back to the press and slowly depressed the plunger with one hand while preventing a third child from licking the hot tea pot. My husband, now done with his shower, yelled- "Hey- That coffee smells GREAT this morning..." To shorten this already long tale, after coming downstairs, sampling the coffee, and seeing the ease of use, he was sold. The side of the travel press says, "Give up bad coffee for good." Prophetic? Hardly! It brews great coffee and it's very easy to use. I heartily recommend this product.
Description of Bodum Logo Travel PressPrinted on the insulated, virtually unbreakable, plastic carafe of this French press coffeemaker is the slogan "Give up bad coffee for good!" It's possible, thanks to the coffeemaker's compact size and portability. It can be stored in a drawer at the office, packed into a suitcase, or taken along for the morning commute. Just 7-1/4 inches high and 2-3/4 inches in diameter, it fits most vehicle cup holders, briefcases, and purses. It brews up to 14 ounces of coffee and then keeps it hot for a considerable time. Freshly brewed coffee can be drunk directly from the coffeemaker or poured into a cup. To protect against drips, the screw-on lid is recessed to contain spills. All parts are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack
