An avid home cook that is a collector of both cookbooks and cooking gadgets writes this review. Most of the time I prepare southern Italian food in my kitchen. I go through a head of garlic every two days. I found this little gadget and fell in love with it. I have summarized my observations of this product below:
Pros:
1. Makes perfect thin slices of garlic every time
2. Stays sharp, I have been using mine daily for a year and it slices like the day I bought it
3. Easy to clean, I usually hand wash it
4. Small size means it is easy to store
5. I can work with garlic without having my hands smell of garlic
6. Also works well for fresh ginger
7. Apparently well made. I expected the plastic would have given up by now with the repetitive use this gets at my house. But, it is still going strong one year after purchase.
Cons:
1. I wish the internal capacity was a little larger, but I use a lot of garlic. It will hold three large cloves at one time.
Overall I highly recommend this product to anyone that loves garlic. If you love the taste of garlic but don't want to eat the garlic this gadget is perfect. The slices are large enough that those that choose can pick the garlic out of their dish. Additionally, it makes a beautiful little sliver of garlic that looks nice in the dish. If you like garlic I strongly recommend that you pick up one of these.

The BODUM Multi-Slicer is a great tool for every chef?s kitchen. Whether you are slicing garlic for cooking or as a garnish, the multi-Slicer makes the process clean and easy. Simply fill the Multi-Slicer with garlic cloves, pieces of ginger, radish, nuts, chocolate and more. Put the unit together and turn the knob. The result is consistent paper thin slices without the use of knives. The Multi-Slicer reduces contact with the food so your hands don?t smell. Using the Multi-Slicer also makes sure that the flavors of your garlic and ginger make it into the food instead of ending up as juice on a cutting board. Freshly sliced garlic and ginger are one of the best ways to flavor food. The Multi-Slicer produces perfect chocolate shavings to accent cakes, pastries and your favorite coffee drink. The unit is easy to clean. Simply remove the blades and place in the dishwasher or wash by hand. The entire unit is dishwasher safe, but for longer life of the rubber grip, we recommend hand washing with soap and warm water.This nifty device slices garlic cloves while keeping fingers free of their aromatic oil. It readily accommodates up to three fat cloves and is spring-loaded so slices are thin and uniform. The stainless-steel cutter has three blades for quick work. The slicer is made of heavy, clear acrylic, with a rubber grip around its middle so it won't slip even when hands are wet. The top twists off, garlic cloves go into three slots in the bottom, the top twists back on, and then the chrome knob is turned to slice the garlic.
