Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Osiris Stovetop TeakettleCustomer Review: Osiris sets the standard Summary: 5 Stars
I have just purchased this piece of MOMA stovetop functional art for the second time. The first one I got is still at work on my stovetop at home #1 after more years than I can remember - when was this Bodum classic designed? It is still as beautiful and functional as the first day I got it! Now I have one for home #2 as well. I checked out every other tea kettle on the market and non can compare to the clean elegant lines and simple straight forward response to the task of boiling water. The Osiris tea kettle has beauty combined with utility,"beautility", in a word. Not bad for a modest piece of kitchen cookware, huh?
Description of Bodum Osiris Stovetop TeakettleHeat water up to 50% faster than traditional tea kettles with the Osiris stovetop water kettle. The specially designed base is built to focus the heat and assist in boiling water faster. The Osiris water kettle is a true example of combining design with functionality. The modern cylindrical design on this compact little teakettle makes it look like a museum piece?and, well it might be, as it was created for New York?s Museum of Modern Art shop by designed Carsten Jorgensen. However, this kettle?s form also has a function: its slightly wider base directs heat upward so water boils 50 percent faster than in other teakettles. In fact, it takes only 8 minutes to boil about 2 pints of water, although the Osiris can hold a maximum capacity of 64 ounces or 2 quarts. The Osiris is made of brilliantly polished stainless steel, which matches any kitchen décor. The pot has a lift-off lid on top for refilling with water and a stay-cool handle for safe lifting from the stove. The triangular-shaped spout doesn?t have a whistle to alert you when water is boiling so it?s advised to stick close by when this teakettle is on the stove. --Cristina Vaamonde
