Customer Review: Pretty but needs design improvements

I owned this tea kettle for a few years. After letting it boil to empty so many times, it finally became burned beyond help, but it did boil quickly. My complaints are that the round blue tip of the lid melted off and the wooden handle came apart more than once. The brass colored screw that holds the handle on, loosened and I found it on the floor, not realizing what it was at first. The handle was hot and required the use of a pot holder.
So...pretty, functional, but could use design improvements. I'm looking for a new one now and I'm not convinced enough to buy another one of these.

Bodum 5020-16 Ottoni Water KettleThis compact cylindrical kettle boasts a sparse post-modernist '70s design with some whimsical touches, such as a mystical blue-beaded lid handle and a row of raised dots hammered into the steel around its upper circumference. However, the Ottoni's form also has a function: its slightly wider base directs heat upward so water boils 50 percent faster than in other kettles. In fact, it takes only 8 minutes to boil about 2 pints of water, although the Ottoni can hold a maximum capacity of 64 ounces or 2 quarts. The Ottoni is made of brilliantly polished stainless steel, which matches any kitchen d?cor, and has a lift-off lid on top for refilling with water. The handle, made of several layers of laminated mahogany, is secured with waterproof glue and sealed with lacquer to keep steam from taking a toll on its appearance. The triangular-shaped spout doesn't have a whistle to alert you when water is boiling so it's advised to stick close by when this teakettle is on the stove. --Cristina Vaamonde
