Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Pavina 9-Ounce Double-Wall Thermo Glasses (Tumbler), Set of 2Customer Review: Cheap, cheap, cheap Summary: 1 StarsI bought 4 sets of Bodum glasses -- several different sizes. They are SOOOO cheap I can't believe it. I've only had them a couple of months and already they are developing cracks in their walls so that water gets in between the two layers.
These glasses cost a lot and are SO not worth it. Never again. Buyer beware.
Customer Review: Use them everyday for coffee. Summary: 5 StarsI've had the Pavana 12 oz for about a year. One was broken in the box when it arrived, which seems to happen a lot judging by comments. Amazon of course sent another box right away. I have used them for about a year now, with no problem. I don't use ice, or put them in dish washer. I use a plastic pad to wash. They are now my favorite way to drink coffee and beer.
Customer Review: Fragile beyond belief Summary: 1 StarsI bought two of these glasses. The first morning I owned them I had a latte in one and it was fantastic. The drink remained hot for quite awhile while I read the morning news paper. That afternoon, I GENTLY added a few ice cubes to an empty glass and then attempted to fill it with cold water from the tap. The glass immediately shattered in my hand.
Customer Review: Beautiful, elegant, helpful for shot-tweaking, a bit fragile Summary: 4 StarsI am really delighted by these glasses, which replace my traditional porcelain espresso cups. Now I can see the color of my shot and how much crema I produce, and can more effectively adjust my tamp pressure, grind, or duration of brewing. I also just think a shot of espresso, like a pint of stout beer, is a thing of beauty, and I don't agree with my self-righteous, snot-nosed husband who says the only thing that matters about a shot is how it tastes (he thinks I'm the snob, because I care about the aesthetics). Taste is obviously the main thrust, but the the visual cues of how the shot will probably taste (the depth, texture and color of the crema as well as the color and density of the brew underneath the crema) are practically as rewarding to me as the actual taste. I've had espresso glasses before but never with a curved bottom, and I'm not interested enough to explore the physics in any kind of depth but the curvature does inform my shot for the better (more crema). Maybe I'm tripping but I don't think so and I'm not willing to bone up on this to confirm it other than through ocular proof. Come on, these glasses are just beautiful, and the suspension effect also packs a wallop. One thing, as others have noted, is that the glasses are pretty light-weight and thus fragile, but I haven't found them absurdly fragile or anything. No leaking or micro-cracks thus far. They seem to retain the heat of the drink to my satisfaction and they aren't prohibitively hot to handle. Perfect balance of form and function. Thanks Bodum!
Customer Review: perfect for expresso Summary: 5 StarsThese expresso shot glasses are so great! My fingers never get burnt making my lattes any more! They look great too.
